At appromixately 76"W x 80"L, king mattresses (also called standard king or Eastern king) offer the widest sleep surface of all the mattress sizes. They are 16" wider than a queen size mattress, making them the most spacious mattress choice available for couples. King mattresses do require space considerations, as they can be too large for some master bedrooms. King mattresses are used with a "split box spring/foundation" (two twin-size box springs/foundations) to make them easier to move and set up.
